Claydon smashes personal best in the Chester marathon

Hannah Claydon has shot to the top of the Wiltshire Rankings after smashing her personal best in the Chester marathon.

The 23-year-old Swindon Harrier from Marlborough, who is coached by Taunton’s Charlotte Fisher, wiped away the nightmare of her debut in the London Marathon earlier in the year when she dipped under three hours with a fine time of two hours, 56 minutes and 39 seconds.

“I am really pleased with that time,” said Claydon. Her success was not just physical but also mental after that London debut saw her struggle to the finish line in a time of just over eight hours having refused to quit despite a stomach bug.

“London took forever and now I have brought down my marathon time from virtually a whole day to three hours!” she smiled.

“I will definitely try another and will see if I can get into London next year.”
