Lining up alongside each other for the combined under-17s and under-20s women’s race, the Westbury Harriers runners, who live in Thornbury, claimed a one-two.

Hannah was the clear overall winner to lift the under-20 title while Ellie was happy to follow Team Bath rival Jade Littlechild in the early stages before surging clear to lift the under-17s’ crown.

As family doubles go that will take some beating. Team Bath twins Robert and John Howorth were in the under-20 men’s race but really didn’t enjoy the conditions and manfully finished fifth and ninth respectively, while brother and sister James (under-17s, bronze) and Megan Wright (under-15s, silver), of Chippenham Harriers, also both won medals in the Wiltshire event.

Moving to husband and wife teams then pride of place must go to Simon and Denise Nott of Calne Running Club. Simon won the Tri-Counties race to secure a hat-trick of Wiltshire titles while wife Denise finished seventh overall and fourth in her category as she continues her return to form after injury.
