BRISTOL Flyers were beaten 90-83 at home by Leicester Riders, who went to the top of the BBL Championship for the first time this season thanks to the win.
Leicester are the team Bristol have struggled most against since they joined the BBL in 2014. The Riders have now claimed 17 straight wins over the Flyers.
Riders took control after they posted a 12-2 run early in the second quarter, with Pierre Hampton and JR Holder hitting three-pointers. Tim Williams gave them a double-digit lead at 38-27 as the hosts were allowed just one basket in nearly four minutes.
The Riders’ lead peaked at 62-41 on a Conner Washington score in the third, and that gave Leicester enough to hold off a late fight-back.
Washington finished with four three-pointers, missing just once, on his way to 14 points, adding six rebounds and four assists; while Hampton scored 15 to go with his nine rebounds and six assists.
Flyers’ Jalan McCloud was the game’s top scorer with 23 points, with team-mate Tevin Falzon bagging 17.
