IT’S an awards double for Plymouth Raiders after a brilliant spell from Donte Nicholas was recognised with him being handed Molten BBL Player of the Month honour for December.
Following on from play-caller Paul James taking the monthly coaching gong, the Plymouth fans will be delighted to see Nicholas also get the nod.
It was certainly a jaw-dropping December for the do-it-all star, who came close to producing a spectacular triple-double month.
Nicholas averaged a stellar 20.8 points per game (57 per cent shooting), along with 9.8 rebounds and 9.3 assists per outing. He also did it defensively too, by snapping up 3.8 steals per game – all of which contributed to an eye-catching average index valuation of 35 per game.
Nicholas was at the heart of a memorable finish to 2018 for Raiders as they wrapped up the last month of the calendar year unbeaten – jumping into the BBL Trophy quarter-finals in the process, via a derby win against Flyers.
He had to fend off major challenges from November winner Willie Clayton of Manchester Giants along with DBL Sharks Sheffield duo Chris Alexander and Dirk Williams
