MANCHESTER Giants avenged last week’s defeat at home to Plymouth Raiders with an important 98-90 victory at the Pavilions on Sunday.

Danny Bryne’s side had already lost the head-to-head, but pick up a vital victory with both teams now level at 12-15 ahead of the final month of the regular season.

The Giants were ahead for the majority of the game, leading by 11 at the end of the third through McCall’s buzzer beater. Plymouth put a late run together to close within four, but they fell short as Manchester took the win.

Giants’ Ingus Bankevics caught fire with seven triples in a 29-point haul in the win, while Willie Clayton had another huge double-double with 20 points and 20 rebounds as all six Manchester hit double figures.

The Giants’ 3-point shooting was hot throughout the contest, boosted by Bankevics as they hit 13 of 27 to help counter giving up 22 turnovers.

Josh Wilcher was Raiders’ top scorer with 23 followed by Donte Nicholas with 20 and Rashad Hassan with 18.

Plymouth and Manchester are joint eighth, but Bristol Flyers are only two points behind with two games in hand.
