RAIDERS BOOST BBL PLAY-OFF HOPES WITH OVER-TIME WIN OVER FLYERS

PLYMOUTH Raiders took a giant step closer to making the BBL play-offs after defeating South West rivals Bristol Flyers 94-91 after over-time on Sunday.

Paul James’ side join DBL Sharks Sheffield on 16-16 with a win in their final game enough to guarantee play-off qualification, while the Flyers drop outside of the top eight after their defeat.

The Flyers led by 11 in the first half, but Plymouth battled back to set up an enthralling finish with huge plays at both ends and overtime ensued. The lead continued to change hands until Jarvelainen’s go-ahead drive put the home side ahead and they closed out the win.

Donte Nicholas topped scored for the Raiders and he grew influence as the game progressed and also collected 13 rebounds.

Bristol’s Fred Thomas was the game’s top scorer with 27, but could not help his side to a vital victory.
