Winning steak continues...

IT WAS another great week for Ottery St Mary bowlers in the Men’s Over 60s League with all four teams winning for the second week running.

The A team took maximum points away to Feniton A with Richard Bland, Peter Jones & skip Terry House enjing a convincing 30-16 success. The B team also gained maximum points with a thumping 62-16 win against Tiverton West End C, Tony Bushell, Ray Luscombe & skip Ron Cook had the best rink (32-6).

The C team continued their perfect start to the season with another eight points at home to Sidmouth C, winning 40-27 – George Hutchinson, Norman Lawrence & skip Dave Rose with a 18-11 victory.

The D team were at home to Wellington C and, though sharing the rinks, came away with an overall 39-30 win, the winning Ottery rink was that of Maurice Flower, Ken Dennis & skip Mike Smith (25-12).

Ottery men were knocked out of the Top Club event losing 4-1 at home to Seaton, the sole success was a 19-8 victory for Mike Smith in the 2 Woods Singles.

To end the week Ottery celebrated President’s Day with six rinks taking to the green. Club President Maggie Beighton hosted the event for 55 members after the match, and also donated all monies raised, almost £550, to the club funds.
