SOMERSET will have England star Jack Leach available for all of their fixtures in April.

England announced their player availability for the opening month of the season on Monday and it was good news for Somerset, who begin their County Championship season with the visit of newly-promoted Kent on Friday April 5.

This is followed by a trip to Trent Bridge to take on Nottinghamshire in the same competition starting on April 11.

He will also be available, if required, for Somerset’s Royal London One-Day cup games against Kent (April 19), Glamorgan (April 21), Sussex (April 24), Essex (April 26) and Gloucestershire (April 28).

Leach was in impressive form in 2018. He finished the season with 30 championship wickets at an average of 24.07. This included a career-best of eight for 85 against Essex.

That form saw him selected for the England tours of Sri Lanka and the West Indies.
