Trio fall but rain intervenes

THE afternoon session began with striking almost immediately when Jack Leach had former team mate Nick Compton trapped in front with the score on 27.

And it got even better just one run later when England’s Dawid Malan was dismissed for a duck when he edged to keeper Steven Davies off Dom Bess.

But the predicted rain appeared at 1.45pm and the covers were rolled into action with Middlesex wobbling on 40 for 3 after 20.1 overs.

No further play was possible on day three and stumps were called just before 4.30pm with Somerset needing a further seven wickets tomorrow.
