SOMERSET’S LEACH NAMED IN ENGLAND TEST SQUAD FOR WEST INDIES SERIES

SOMERSET’S Jack Leach has been named in the England Test squad for their forthcoming series against the West Indies.

England National Cricket Selectors have named a 16-strong squad for the three-match series in the Caribbean starting in January.

They have also named a 15-strong squad for the ODI series against the Windies starting in February.

Leach, who impressed in the recent series whitewash in Sri Lanka, said: “It goes without saying that I’m really excited to have been selected. I learned so much in Sri Lanka and the whole experience just made me hungry for more.

“This is a massive opportunity for me and it’s one that I’m determined to take with both hands. The conditions in the West Indies will provide different challenges to those I experienced in Sri Lanka, but I’m learning all the time and I’ll just keep pushing and pushing to get better and better.

“To play Test cricket for England is the pinnacle, and to have the chance to win another away series is one we are definitely looking forward to as a squad.”

England’s Test squad is unchanged from the end of the 3-0 series win in Sri Lanka.

Two players return to the ODI set-up having missed the series in Sri Lanka. Tom Curran and David Willey are included. Sam Curran, Liam Dawson and Olly Stone all miss out.
