Twyford celebrate going up


Twyford House CC celebrated a thrilling finish to a promotion season at their annual awards night.

More than 120 players and guests met in the Grace Room at the Brightside County Ground for the celebrations. Some came from as far away as the Isle of Wight.

Promotion into the Gloucestershire Division of the West of England Premier League was clinched on the last day of the season with a win over Shirehampton.

Mark Fowler won the First XI ‘Player of the Year’ award with 529 League runs at an average of 33.

Alec Bosomworth, a young all-rounder who joined from Devon Premier side Exeter, won ‘Bowling Performance of the Year’ for his five for 18 against Chew.

Bosomworth also cracked an unbeaten 96 to set up the last-day win over Shirehampton to win promotion.

Curtis Blakemore shaded the best batting performance with his 83 in a six-wicket win over Bristol West Indian Phoenix.

‘Clubman of the Year’ went to Sean Neville for work around the ground and his coaching duties with youngsters.

The awards were handed out by club chairman Gary Ball and president Alan Mathias.
