Player Spotlight: Cornish Pirates Rupert Cooper

Rupert was well known to us before signing in May 2017 having been a respected figure in opposition during five years at Nottingham.

He joined us from Plymouth Albion where he spent the 2016/17 season to be nearer family, his wife Sarah is a cardiac physiologist and they have a daughter Ailla.

He is nowadays a keen chef and runs his own catering company called Borgia Bull, his jerk pork fillet with pineapple salsa and garlic and rosemary flatbreads is apparently a real hit!

During his time at Nottingham he compered and performed at Food Festivals, where he met many celebrity Chefs, including Tom Kerridge.

He has also played for Bishops Stortford and Kenilworth and enjoyed a spell with Durbanville in South Africa. On his return to the UK he played for Stourbridge in National One before joining Nottingham.

A son of Tony Cooper, who captained Wasps in the 1970s and also played rugby league for Swinton, his first taste of rugby was with Ely RFC in Cambridgeshire, whilst his main education was at Bishops Stortford College, Hertfordshire. Besides rugby Rupert played county cricket at school.
