FIRST OPEN BOAT MATCH OF 2018

The latest from West Bay Sea Angling Club...

21 anglers left West Bay harbour at 9am on a sunny and calm morning to compete in West Bay Sea Angling Club’s first open boat match of 2018.

When the six boats returned at 5pm the reports were of a lovely day on the water but with quality fish difficult to locate.

1st Prize: Graham Stephenson (Plaice and Red gurnard), 2nd Steve Fowles (Plaice and Tub gurnard),  3rd Eddie Tarnovski (Pollack, Bull Huss), Most species: Rich Mullins (Thornback ray, pollack, plaice and whiting).

Eight Juniors signed on to fish the match on an overcast but dry day. Only 14 fish were caught, species caught were; blenny, wrasse, shanny, poor cod, pout, sea scorpion and pollack.

Result: 1st Eden Lynham 215g, 2nd Callum Aunger 142g, 3rd Ewan Chambers 75g, Callum Aunger 7g pout (smallest) and heaviest Fish 97g pollock, Best Girl: Carmen McKenzie 49g, Sponsors: Richard “Tiny” Daw, Becky Chambers, Nicki Brotherton and Andrew Fowler.
