BRISTOL CITY UP TO FIFTH AFTER BEATING BORO

BRISTOL City boosted their Championship play-off hopes by beating Middlesbrough 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The win has lifted City up to fifth in the table, ahead of Aston Villa and Derby County, while Boro now find themselves two points off the play-offs places with manager Tony Pulis coming under pressure.

A goal from defender Adam Webster just before half-time decided the game. Webster rose to head in a Jay Dasilva corner.

The win followed on from Saturday’s impressive away victory at third-placed Sheffield United.

City boss Lee Johnson said: “It was always going to be a difficult environment to deal with and Middlesbrough have got quality players. But the players put their bodies on their line and worked their socks off and got numbers behind the ball.”
