ETHAN Ampadu, who does not turn 17 until next month, has been included in Wales’ World Cup plans following his summer move from Exeter City to Premier League champions Chelsea. Wales boss Chris Coleman is facing a crunch World Cup game against Austria in Cardiff on Saturday, and then an equally-important tie against Moldova.
Wales are currently four points off Group D front-runners Serbia and the Republic of Ireland with four games to go but Coleman insists that Ampadu’s place in a 25-strong squad is fully justified.
The youngster has trained with the senior squad before but this is the first time that he has been called up officially.
‘In terms of his ability he is capable of being with us in the 23,’ Coleman said.
‘He’s not a player I’ve put in for the sake of it. I have no doubt he will be able to handle it if we call upon him in some capacity.’
