Chard Town’s winless run on the road was extended to five matches after hosts Devizes came from behind to snatch all three points at a Nursteed Road ground which was passed fit for play after a late pitch inspection..

Liam Cleal moved in to double figures in league goals for the season when he put Chard in front in the 17th minute.

But the hosts were level on the half hour courtesy of a Matt Russell strike and Matty Lever grabbed what proved to be the winner 10 minutes after the half time interval.

The result moves Devizes up to sixth spot in the table with Chard 10th ahead of a busy period of three games against fellow midtable teams in five days. First up is tomorrow’s (Thursday) trip to Bishop Sutton followed by the visit of Calne Town on Saturday (3pm) and Tuesday’s road trip to Welton Rovers.
