Forest Green Rovers hot-shot on his Wales ambition...

FOREST Green Rovers’ striker, Christian Doidge, is hoping to catch the eye of recently-appointed Wales manager, Ryan Giggs, having enjoyed a fruitful campaign in front of goal during the Gloucestershire outfit’s maiden season in The Football League.

The 25 year-old took his goal tally for the season to 19 last weekend with a brace in The Green Devils’ 5-2 victory over Cambridge United.

“I’ve had a couple of spells where I haven’t scored but then I seem to go on a little run and sort myself out a little bit,” he told “It’s always good to score goals at this level and I just want to keep going.

“That’s why I’m playing. I’d love to have a Welsh cap, that’s all I want to achieve in my career. There’s a lot of hard work to get to that point and I’ve just got to keep scoring goals and see where it takes me.”

Doidge’s form has seen him attract plenty of higher level interest.
