Magpies appoint Thompson as manager

STEVE Thompson has been appointed as the new manager of Dorchester Town FC.

Thompson, who played in the football league for Bristol City, Torquay United, Yeovil Town and mainly Wycombe Wanderers where he appeared 162 times, has had plenty of experience in the dug out.

The 54-year-old managed Yeovil back in 2005-06 winning 35 per cent of his 41 matches in charge and has also held the post of the Glovers’ assistant and caretaker manager in an 11-year stay at the club.

More recently he has managed Truro City and assisted Garry Hill for six years at Conference South club Woking where the pair were released from their contract with the appointment of new investors back in May.

Thompson takes over a Magpies side that has lost 10 of their last 11 matches and are in desperate need of a lift having slipped to third form bottom of the Evo-Stik South Premier Division.
