GULLS HANDED AWAY TROPHY TRIP TO BOREHAM WOOD, WHILE TRURO TO FACE WESTON-SUPER-MARE

TORQUAY United have been drawn away to National League side Boreham Wood in the first round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

“It would have been nice to have gotten a home draw, for a change, and to play at our home ground,” said Torquay manager Gary Johnson.

“However, the draw has been made and as I have said previously, it will be nice to see where we are against a decent Conference side. I’ve had a couple of battles with them over the years and they’ve got a good manager and a good team. It will definitely test us, but they are the tests we want for future reference.”

The tie will take place on Saturday, December 15 (3pm).

Meanwhile, Truro City have been handed a home tie against Weston-super-Mare after seeing off Greenwich Borough at the weekend

“These cup ties against sides from lower leagues can be tricky as they always play way above their normal level and if you aren’t careful it can be easy to get turned over, especially in horrendous conditions like we had on Saturday,” said manager Leigh Robinson.

“We now look forward to taking on Weston-super-Mare in a couple of weeks in the next round. It would be good to have a run in this competition.”
