Abbey from the Bournemouth Hayward Sunday League struck twice in the last minute of extra time through Max Wilcock and substitute Luke Dawe to sink Blackmore Vale League outfit Carey Swans 5-3 in an entertaining Dorset Sunday Challenge Cup Final.

The Swans opened the scoring early on through Liam Bond but Abbey were level on the quarter hour courtesy of a Dan Manuel penalty after Max Wilcock had been tripped. And the took the lead five minutes later when Manuel netted his scored again – this time at the second attempt after keeper Kieron Davis had saved his initial effort.

It stayed that way until Abbey mounted a surge and equalised 10 minutes from the end of normal time through Nick Hewlett.

Mark Dykes restored Abbey’s lead ten minutes into extra time only for the Swans drew level again when Nick Hewlett drilled a 20-yarder into the bottom corner of the net.

Swans were left to see out the final few minutes of extra time with 10-men after Will Malton was shown a second yellow card and they were made to pay when Abbey struck twice in the last minute through Wilcock and Dawe – a superb 35-yard lob.
