NEW MAN AT THE LYME REGIS HELM

Hitchcock handed manager role...

GERARD Hitchcock has been appointed as the new manager of Lyme Regis Football Club.

Hitchcock (42), who managed the Seasiders Reserves for 10 years, was installed at the club’s AGM on Tuesday night and will be assisted by Mark Bevis and Mark Bailey.

Bailey did an excellent job as interim player-manager after previous incumbent Robin Townsend stepped down and led the team to third spot in the Devon & Exeter League Division One and success in the Grandisson Cup.

Hitchcock’s place in the Reserves’ dug out will be taken by joint managers Luke Clifton, currently recovering from a broken fibula, and Rod Rowe who returns to the role after a number of years away including a spell as manager of Uplyme. The team finished fourth in the Devon & Exeter League Division Five and retained the Football Express cup last season.

Meanwhile, The Seasiders’ third string, The Rovers, will be lead in the Perry Street League Division Three next season by a trio of player managers in Matt Preece, Rob Larcombe and Niall Davis after work commitments curtailed previous manager Terry White’s availability.
