Burn signs on the line for Argyle

A former Sunderland and Middlesbrough triallist has signed apprentice forms at Plymouth Argyle.

Andrew Burn is a defender from Gateshead, who played football throughout his school years at Cardinal Hume Secondary. A midfielder for Gateshead, he switched to his local team, Leam Rangers, at 15 and was encouraged to play as a centre back.

Burn had trials with Sunderland (under-14) and Middlesbrough (under-15), as well as representing Gateshead and Newcastle District at under-13 level. He was also part of the school team that reached the National Schools final against Windsor last season.

He was recommended to Argyle’s Academy by Martin Jones, a former Community Trust coach in Sunderland, and impressed the Pilgrims while on trial, with coaches particularly noting his calmness on the ball, defensive attributes and his positive attitude and application.
