RELEGATION-threatened Plymouth Argyle suffered a fourth consecutive defeat when they were beaten 3-0 at home by promotion-chasing Barnsley.

Argyle are now just one place and one point ahead of the drop zone with just two games to go.

The Pilgrims will finish their season with an away match at Accrington Stanley, who are one point ahead of them, and a home fixture against Scunthorpe United, who are one place below them. Derek Adams’ side cannot really afford to lose either if they want to stay in the League One.

Boos rang around Home Park as the final whistle went on Easter Monday.

The Pilgrims suffered a nightmare first half when Barnsley scored all their goals.

Cauley Woodrow fired the South Yorkshire side ahead in the 15th minute before Jacob Brown added a second six minutes later.

The Tykes went further ahead on 28 minutes when Alex Mowatt scored from a good free-kick.

Argyle were better after half-time but by then Barnsley had the game wrapped up.
