Former Bristol Rovers star looking forward to new campaign...

ROMAN Glass St George will make club history when they play their first match in the Western League Premier Division on Saturday, August 4.

The club won promotion last season after finishing runner-up to Westbury United in Division One, in what was their 11th year in the Western League.

The Romans, who are managed by former Bristol Rovers star Andy Gurney and Liam Greening, play at the Gloucester County Headquarters at Almondsbury.

They have players in the pipeline and, according to Greening, all of last season’s squad are to remain with the club.

Greening said: “They’ve all intimated that they are staying and they will all get a fair crack of the whip.”

The club have a new secretary in Adam Growcott, and a new physiotherapist in Scott Cowley, who has worked with Bristol City Ladies.

Greening added: “He’s young and keen and has come to us for added experience.”

The Romans tune up with a visit from Thornbury Town on Saturday, July 21, which is followed by a trip to Larkhall Athletic on Tuesday, July 24. They then travel to Caldicott Town on Saturday, July 28 and finish at home against Littlestoke on Wednesday, August 1.
