Match Preview – Torquay United vs Gateshead FC

Tonight Torquay United take on Gateshead FC who currently sit in 15th place in the National League table. Gateshead have lost one game in their last five, where as Torquay have lost two in their last five league games.

The visitors have a fully-fit squad to pick from apart from Scott Barrow (concussion) who was stretchered off in their FA Cup defeat to Luton Town. Midfielder Russell Penn returns for the Heed after serving his suspension.

If Gateshead get the win at Plainmoor tonight they will rise two places in the tableland six points outside the play offs.

Torquay United manager had a few words after a defeat to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday:

“I am bitterly disappointed to be on the end of a 3-0 scoreline – goal-difference may be very important at the end of the season.

“We didn’t go out there with any real belief in the first 45 minutes.

The two teams met back in August, where Gateshead took a 3-0 victory thanks to two own goals from the Gulls.
