WILKINSON IS APPOINTED AS TRURO’S NEW BOSS

TRURO City have appointed Paul Wilkinson as their manager until the end of the season.

He will take his first training session on Thursday evening with his remit to preserve the Cornish club’s National League South status.

Wilkinson, now 54, had a long playing career with spells at Grimsby Town, Everton, Nottingham Forest, Watford, Middlesbrough, Barnsley, Millwall and Northampton Town.

He made more than 650 professional appearances, scoring more than 150 gaols.

After retiring from playing he went into coaching. He was youth team manager at Leeds United and then became reserve boss at Grimsby Town before going on to coach at Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday, Northampton Town.

Wilkinson becomes Truro’s third manager this season and replaces Leigh Robinson, who left the club on Tuesday along with assistant boss Michael Meaker.

Truro are just one place and one point ahead of the relegation zone after losing 3-0 at home to Chelmsford on Saturday.
