Buckland stand in way of Argyle again

Plymouth Argyle will be out for revenge when they travel to Buckland Athletic in the Devon Cup County today.

The Pilgrims suffered a shock 4-2 defeat at the hands of Buckland in the same competition last year, when Buckland went on to lift the trophy, defeating Marine Academy Plymouth in the final.

Argyle go into the tie on the back of their 5-2 SSE FA Cup third round qualifying win at Poole Town. Their reward is a home first round tie against Basingstoke Town on Sunday, November 12.

Argyle beat Basingstoke at this stage of the Cup 3-1 last season and only two weeks ago came away from a League match as 5-1 winners.

Striker Natasha Knapman hit a hat-trick at Poole to keep up the her impressive form this season, making it 24 goals in seven matches.

Also in the first round are Keynsham Town, whose Michelle Munro scored the only goal in their win at St Nicholas. They visit Southampton Saints in next month’s first round.

A Laura Gough hat-trick helped Buckland Athletic to a 4-1 win at New Milton and they now receive Brislington, who came through a penalty shoot out over Torquay United after the pair drew 0-0. Larkhall Athletic’s 3-0 win at Forest Green Rovers has been rewarded with a home tie against Southampton.

But Cheltenham Town and FC Chippenham went out to Southampton Saints (4-1) and Basingstoke Town (6-1) respectively.
