Plymouth Argyle were due to entertain Chichester City, the team that beat them to promotion last season, in the first round of the Women’s Premier League Cup today, but the poor weather saw the game called off yesterday evening.
The Sussex side have done well since promotion, losing just one of their last seven matches. They beat West Ham United 4-1 to reach this stage while Argyle received a bye.
The Pilgrims recently enjoyed a 4- 3 win at Buckland Athletic in the Westward Developments Devon Women’s Senior Cup, which avenged a surprise 4-2 defeat against their Devon counterparts last season. In-form Argyle striker Natasha Knapman scored a hat-trick to take her season’s tally to 27 from just eight games.
Argyle’s win at Buckland in the Devon Cup has earned them a quarter-final visit to Alphington on Sun- day, November 19. Last season’s beaten finalists Marine Academy
receive Bideford; Exeter City, who received a walkover against Activate, entertain Torquay United, and Exeter & Tedburn Rangers will look to repeat their 2-1 win over Plymp- ton in the final tie.
