WSM TAKE SOMERSET PREMIER CUP

Seagulls overturn deficit to take Cup...

WESTON-super-Mare came from behind to beat plucky Paulton Rovers in Tuesday’s Somerset Premier Cup Final held at Frome Town FC’s badgers’ Hill Ground.

Rovers struck first through Man-of-the-Match Liam Monelle and held their lead to the half time interval. And an upset looked on the cards when the Southern League Division One West outfit doubled their lead soon after the turnaround.

But the Seagulls, fresh from a mid tabel finish in the National League South, soon stole a foothold in the game when Jake Lee netted from the penalty spot and they were level at 2-2 courtesy of a Jerrod Welch strike.

The winner came deep into stoppage time when Tristan Plummer completed a remarkable fightback for the coast team – and was then dismissed having received a second yellow card for removing his shirt in celebration!
