PRESIDENT’S CUP AT HONITON GOLF CLUB

Sun shines on competitive competition...

THE ANNUAL battle for the President’s Cup at Honiton Golf Club was played in searing sunshine with 14 mixed pairs playing in foursomes (alternate shot) and for a medal.

The winners were David & Sharon Rouse with a net 78. In second place with a net 78.5 were Brian Morrison & Elizabeth Ward, and in 3rd place (on count-back), also with a net 78.5, were Peter & Heather Clarke.

The Club’s 3BBB attracted a field of over a hundred mixed home an away players.

On a tricky course, the scoring was exceptionally good and winning with a very impressive 46 points were Tim Morris, Richard Townsend, and Steve Waller from Honiton, winning the coveted Dave Bird Trophy.

However, the biggest story of the day was that nobody in such a large field managed to score a 2 which left a draw from the completed cards for the 72 Pro V balls (worth almost £500), 6 cards were drawn out, with each team receiving a dozen balls.

In addition to the club’s Festival Week in May the next Open is the Captains Charity Open on Saturday the 2nd June.
