Ollie Drummond appointed captain of the UK Lions under-14s

Ollie Drummond, who was awarded a Maddie Hinch hockey scholarship to King’s College, Taunton, has been appointed captain of the UK Lions under-14 squad.

Lions members are named after the under-13 Festival of Hockey at Nottingham every June, where Drummond skippered the South West team who were one of ten competing.

It is the third year running that Drummond, who plays his club hockey for Taunton Vale, has been selected and it comes after he was named ’Player of the tournament’. He toured Sardinia with the Lions in December, playing against Sardinian and Italian teams; has played against both Scotland and Ulster, and will captain the squad again when they return to Sardinia in December. The youngster is also apart of the England Hockey pathway and is entering his third year in the under-15 Performance Centre.

The scholarship is now open to boys and girls joining the school in Year Nine in September 2018, who demonstrate outstanding potential in hockey. For further details please call: Taunton (01823) 328 204, or e-mail: admissions@kings-taunton.co.uk
