Martyn takes fifth in British Champs

Cornwall teenage trials star Toby Martyn finished fifth in the British Championships with high finishing positions in the last rounds of the R T Keedell Transport Group-backed series, which culminated in East Ayrshire at the weekend.

The St Agnes youngster now makes his debut in the Enduro field in this morning’s Camel Vale round of the South West Championship series at Dunmere Woods, midway between Bodmin and Wadebridge.

He is a ‘wildcard’ entry, along with Cameron Young and international star John Gotts, in an 80-strong entry on a course of around eight miles.

With reigning champion Keelan Hancock still nursing a long-term wrist injury, the top three in contention for the title are Barnstaple’s Richard Tucker, Joshua Marshall and Hancock’s brother, Ross.

Apart from the championship class, there are divisions for Experts, of any age group; over-35 and over-40 classes, and no fewer than three Clubman categories. Sportsmen and beginners are also catered for.
