EXETER speedway fans will gather on Sunday, September 10th to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Exeter Falcons launching as a league team back in 1947.

The Falcons 70 Retro is being held at Longdown Village Hall (commencing at 2.00 pm) and admission is free.

The afternoon will feature an impressive display of speedway bikes and memorabilia, ‘pop up’ talks on the history of Exeter Speedway, and a ‘Beat the Starter’ com- petition on which visitors can test their reaction times.

Author Lee Kilby will be signing copies of his new book The Heart of Kilb, the biography of his father the late Bob Kilby, former Falcons skipper and Exeter track record holder.

Fans will also be able to enjoy a full Devonshire cream tea.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Speed-way Riders’ Benevolent Fund and it is hoped that a number of former Falcons riders will be present along with members of the current Exeter Southern Development League team.
