Marf to lose famous moustache

Penryn RFC chairman Stephen Long – known to everyone as ‘Marf’ – needs your support for a fantastic fund-raising initiative.

The prostate cancer fundraiser, Movember, sees men put away their shavers for the whole of the month in exchange for growing a beard or moustache to raise money for the charity in the process.

However, ‘Marf’ already has a very famous walrus moustache – so he has decided to do a reverse Movember – raising money by shaving it off!

As well as being well known for his connections to Penryn RFC, ‘Marf’ is a scallop fisherman based in Falmouth.

He has fished from Wales around to Eyemouth on the Scottish Borders at various times in his long career with his boat Marel Margh, which is Cornish for Black Horse.

‘Marf’ said: “I am about to part with a very dear friend – namely the brush underneath my nose – which as you all know, I’ve had for a very, very long time!

“This is for a cause that I fully support as prostate cancer is a man thing. One in eight men will have this disease.

“Any donation large or small will be greatly appreciated, so please support me and help me reach my target.”

Donations can be given to ‘Marf’ on a matchday at The Memorial Ground, or via his Justgiving page which can be found at:

I wish him all the best with his fund-raising.
