POLICE APPEAL FOR WITNESSES TO ATTEMPTED MURDER IN PLYMOUTH


POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious assault in Plymouth.

The incident was reported to have taken place at around 9.20pm on Friday, February 22 on Whitleigh Footbridge, Bodmin Road.

The victim, a 17-year-old boy, was reported to have been assaulted to the torso with a bladed weapon. He sustained multiple potentially life-threatening injuries and was taken to Derriford hospital where he remains in a stable condition. His next of kin have been informed.

Six teenage boys, aged between 14 and 17 have since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Three 15-year-old boys and one boy aged 14 were released on police bail until Wednesday, March 20. Two boys aged 16 and 17 were released under investigation pending further enquires.

A bladed weapon was located at the scene and seized by police.

Police are appealing for anyone in the area at the time and anyone with information to come forward and speak to officers.
