BRISTOL’S TRUMP BEATS O’SULLIVAN TO WIN MASTERS TITLE

BRISTOL’S Judd Trump won his first Masters title on Sunday night by thrashing seven-times champion Ronnie O’Sullivan 10-4 at Alexandra Palace.

Trump made a stunning start and went 4-0 up and then 7-1 ahead in just the first session.

O’Sullivan pulled back three frames in the evening session with two centuries, but Trump kept his nerve and eased to victory.

“I have waited a long time for this,” said the 2011 UK Championship winner afterwards. “It has been seven or eight years since I last won a big one.  This is a dream come true.”

Trump had beaten Neil Robertson 6-4 on Saturday night in the semi-finals and Mark Selby 6-2 in the quarters on Friday.
