EXE TO AXE RACE

THE ANNUAL 22-mile Exe to Axe race took place on Sunday. The race starts in Exmouth and follows the coast path to Axmouth Harbour.

Axe Valley Runners’ Matt Clist ran superbly to finish 2nd in 2:34 and Tim Lenton was 3rd, 3:01. Other AVR results: Patrick Devine-Wright 17th, 3:19; Matt Hewer 21st, 3:26; Rob Collier 22nd, 3:26; Rupert Pady 42nd, 3:42; Karen Eyre 69th, 3:56; Eleanor Wood 74th and first FV60 3:57; Kerry Board 105th, 4:22; Andrew Hartnell 112th, 4:24; Steven Lewis 129th, 4:35; Louise (Superwoman) Burridge 155th, 4:50; Adele Foxwell 156th, 4:50; John Larcombe 166th, 4:56; Samantha Miller 177th, 5:07 and Tony Smith 178th, 5:07.

The club also had five relay teams taking part, they finished as follows; AVR Amber  – 3:50 Kevin Feeney & Steve Haines; AVR Blue  – 4:01 Georgia Dommett, Alex Boon; AVR Damson  – 4:12 Robb Kerr, Sarah Shepley, Nick Adams & Ferenc Kovacs; AVR Eggshell  – 4:52 Bec Davey & Mark Spraggs; AVR Crimson  – 4:52 Laura Kerr & Fiona Pyle.

Duncan Staddon ran the Manchester Marathon over the weekend and completed in a fantastic 3:02:03, a time which qualifies him for the iconic Boston marathon next year. Another brilliant time was achieved by Terry Emmett who ran the Taunton Half Marathon and finished 10th out of 1048 in 1:21:34.

Condolences go to the family of Harry Moore who passed away last Saturday. Harry ran in the AVR colours for many years.
