BATH flanker Sam Underhill is facing a race against time to be fit for England’s opening Six Nations match against Ireland.
The 22-year-old suffered ankle ligament damage during Bath’s win over Leicester at the weekend.
His club said in a statement on Wednesday: “Underhill sustained ligament damage to his ankle and further detail around his expected return will be provided after his specialist review.”
However, it is believed that he could be out of action for around four weeks and England’s opening Six Nations match is on February 2. Underhill impressed during England’s Autumn internationals.
Meanwhile, Bath have also confirmed that Matt Garvey is facing three months on the sidelines after fracturing his ankle in the victory over Leicester. He requires surgery that will keep him out of the game for around 12 weeks.
