BRISTOL CLAIM MEMORABLE WIN OVER RIVALS GLOUCESTER

BRISTOL Bears claimed their first win in 11 years over their West Country rivals Gloucester on Friday night at Ashton Gate.

Bristol won a thriller 28-24 to move up to ninth in the Premiership table and 13 points clear of bottom side Newcastle Falcons, while Gloucester stay in fourth, despite the defeat.

Former Gloucester man Dan Thomas opened the scoring for the Bears in the opening two minutes before ex-Bristol man Jason Woodward responded for the visitors.

Andy Uren restored Bristol’s lead but the visitors hit back with tries by Tom Marshall and in-form winger Ollie Thorley.

Bristol, however, sealed the win with a penalty try and then a late Ian Madigan penalty.
