Toby Fricker will make his competitive debut for the club when Bristol Bears kick off the new season with a Premiership Cup clash versus Harlequins on Friday (7.45pm KO).

The winger – who arrived from Ebbw Vale in March – makes his first outing as Director of Rugby Pat Lam reveals his squad for the Twickenham Stoop encounter.

Tiff Eden makes his first competitive start from midfield, while Max Lahiff starts in the front row to make his competitive debut.

Jake Heenan captains the side from openside, alongside Academy back rower James Dun, who makes his first competitive outing since November 2018.

Shaun Malton is set to make his first Bears outing since December 2018, when Bristol faced La Rochelle in the European Challenge Cup pool stages.

“After a positive pre-season of hard work, it’s fantastic to be able to get out on the field in a competitive fixture,” said Lam.

“In these next four games, it’s important for us to try out different combinations and test ourselves in a variety of situations as we build for the Premiership campaign.”

Clifton College student Harry Ascherl and first year Academy winger Jack Bates are listed among the replacements after impressive pre-seasons and could make their competitive debuts, while Nicky Thomas is also included in the 23-man squad following his re-signing in the summer.
