BRISTOL Bears have signed Ebbw Vale winger Toby Fricker on a two-year contract.
Fricker joins the Premiership club with immediate effect and Bristol coach Pat Lam is excited by the 22-year-old, who was named best newcomer in the Welsh Principality Premiership in 2018.
“Toby has earned his opportunity to test himself in a fully professional environment,” said Lam (pictured). “His performances in the Welsh Premiership have impressed us and he shows the attributes to be a quality winger.
“With Ryan [Edwards] unavailable for the rest of the campaign, Toby gives us some added depth in that position. He’s a young man with a positive attitude and a desire to learn.” “We’re looking forward to welcoming Toby on board and integrating him into the Bears environment.
“He is a young Englishman hungry for an opportunity and I believe our rugby programme will help him reach his dreams.
Fricker, whose mother is Welsh, is from London and was in London Scottish’s academy before moving to Southampton University and then to Wales to do a masters degree. He has represented Wales Sevens and Welsh Students.
