FREDDIE BURNS was Bath’s hero as they beat Wasps 24-14 at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday to move up to six in the Premiership table.
Burns scored 19 points courtesy of a try, four penalties and a conversion in the Midlands.
Fourth-placed Wasps, with only one victory in 12 matches, took the lead with a penalty by former Bristol, Plymouth Albion and Launceston fly-half Billy Searle.
Burns levelled with a penalty of his own and he and Searle exchanged further kicks before Burns scored the opening try on 25 minutes as Bath led 14-9 at the break.
In front of more than 30,000 people, Bath went 24-9 up after the break with a Burns penalty and then a converted try but Will Chudley.
Wasps got back into the contest with a touch-down by Thomas Young. Bath thought they had scored a third try when Nathan Catt rumbled over, but it was ruled out by the TMO. However, Bath were able to see out the game to pick up four points.
