CORNISH PIRATES PLAYER HANDED THREE-WEEK BAN

CORNISH Pirates player Alex Schwarz has received a three-week ban for stamping.

Schwarz appeared before an independent disciplinary panel on Monday night after he was cited following the Championship Cup match between Bedford Blues on Saturday, December 8 2018

The player pleaded guilty to the charge, contrary to Law 9.12, and received a three-week ban. He is free to play again 15 January 16 2019.

Panel chair David Lidbury commented: “The player accepted the charge and the panel determined that his actions were reckless rather than intentional.

“Due to the fact that contact was made with the head of the opposition player, the mandatory entry point of mid-range applied. However in light of his guilty plea, considerable remorse and a clean disciplinary record the panel decided that the sanction should be reduced by the full 50 per cent.”

The full independent disciplinary panel comprised David Lidbury (chairman) with Derek Webster and John Vale.
