CORNISH Pirates coach Alan Paver is determined to make life difficult for Championship favourites Bristol when they visit the Mennaye Field next Sunday (2.30 pm).

The Pirates lost their opening game of the season 29-28 at Ealing Trailfinders yesterday, but they famously beat Bristol 45-38 in 2015 – their only defeat in the regular season.

‘I am really looking forward to it,’ said Paver. ‘We are going to get another good training week in and roll our sleeves up, have a no-excuse mentality, and we are going to do exactly what we did at Ealing and come out full steam ahead.

‘If they are good enough to win, fair enough, we will shake their hands afterwards, but we are definitely not going to make it easy for them.

‘We know, on a given day, we are capable of beating anybody, so I am really looking forward to the challenge.’

The Pirates will be hoping that lock and skipper Chris Morgan is fit to face his former club, having dropped out of the game at Ealing due to injuries picked up in pre-season.
