CORNISH Pirates have announced that Sam Matavesi has signed a new two-year contract with the Championship club, just days after helping Fiji to a famous win over France.
The 26-year-old starred for Fiji in their 21-14 win at the Stade de France last weekend.
His form for the Pirates and his country has seen him linked with a couple of Premiership clubs, but the former Plymouth Albion and Camborne player, who is in the Royal Navy, has now committed his future to the Pirates.
“We are all naturally delighted to sign Sam for another two seasons,” said Pirates co-coach Alan Paver. “Obviously, the partnership with the Navy is working very well and having someone of his calibre in our side is a huge bonus.”
