Williams makes the step up to Chairman role...

CHARD Rugby Football Club have confirmed the appointment of John Williams as their new Chairman to replace Gavin Smillie who has stepped down after three years in the role.

A CRFC statement read: “The club are confident that with the addition of John to the strong committee, coaching staff and players, Chard will be able to be competitive in the coming season whilst continuing to support grass roots rugby and the wider Chard community.

Mr. Williams, a long-time supporter of Chard RFC and former Managing Director of green roofing specialist Blackdown Greenroofs also supports The Kotu Trust a small charity which helps support children in The Gambia said: “Chard RFC is a great club with a terrific history of encouraging, nurturing and harnessing local rugby talent.

“It’s a big challenge for both myself and the committee to continue to improve and develop these qualities and expectations. We intend to give it more than our best shot.”
