PIRATES KEEN TO UPSET EALING AND BOOK CUP FINAL SPOT

CORNISH Pirates will be looking to try and book a place in the final of the Championships Cup on Sunday when they make the trip to London to take on Ealing Trailfinders in the last four (3pm).

The teams only met last weekend, with Ealing beating the Pirates at Menneye Field in the league.

The Pirates are boosted by the return to full fitness of wing Robin Wedlake and flanker John Stevens, who come into the starting line-up, while Dan Lee is selected at No. 8 and Dan Frost at hooker.

Will Cargill is named among the replacement after returning from injury.

Cornish Pirates’ co-coach Gavin said: “Getting to the semi-final is great but no-one remembers semi-finalists, so it would be an incredible experience for this player group if they did make the final.  Rugby can be unforgiving, and we’ll be playing a quality team. A place in the final also has to be earned.”

Cornish Pirates:   15 Kyle Moyle, 14 Alex O’Meara, 13 Rory Parata, 12 Callum Patterson, 11 Robin Wedlake, 10 Harvey Skinner, 9 Alex Day; 1 Marlen Walker, 2 Dan Frost, 3 Tyler Gendall, 4 Danny Cutmore, 5 Brett Beukeboom (c), 6 Matt Bolwell, 7 John Stevens, 8 Dan Lee.

Replacements:   16 Sam Matavesi, 17 Jack Andrew, 18 Josh Caulfield, 19 Tom Duncan, 20 Alex Schwarz, 21 Will Cargill, 22 Dan Koster.
