NEWCASTLE Falcons scrum-half Ruaridh Dawson has become the Cornish Pirates’ second new signing ahead of the 2019-20 season.
The 21-year-old, who has played for Blaydon, has penned a one-year deal at Mennaye Field.
He has made five first team appearances for Newcastle but is keen to try and get regular first team rugby.
Dawson said: “I’m really looking forward to joining a great club with great ambitions. My thoughts are that at the Pirates I can develop my game further amongst a committed group of players and coaches.
“Moving down to an incredible part of the country is also something to look forward to and I can’t wait to get started.”
Cornish Pirates’ co-coach Gavin Cattle said: “Ruaridh is a gifted young player who has been involved in a Premiership environment and has attained worthy experience at a high level.
“Keen to make his mark with the Pirates, plaudits have been expressed about him both as a player and as an individual, and it is felt he again is someone who will embrace our team ethic and the culture we endeavour to create.”
Newcastle’s director of rugby Dean Richards added: “We wish Ruaridh all the best for his move in the summer, and thank him for all of his efforts during his time with the Falcons.”
