PIRATES UP TO THIRD AFTER BONUS-POINT WIN OVER SCOTTISH

CORNISH Pirates will end 2018 in third place in the Championships after a 27-0 win over London Scottish at Mennaye Field on Sunday.

In front of a bumper crowd of nearly 3,000 people, the Pirates ran in four tries on their way to their sixth league win in 10 matches.

The hosts had to defend hard in the opening stages as Scottish started brightly, but they defended their line well eventually and went in at the break 12-0 in front thanks to tries by Kyle Moyle and fellow back Alex O’Meara.

There was no more scoring until the 68th minute when Will Cargill put over a penalty to edge the Pirates 15-0 ahead.

But the host finished strongly and added two tries in the final five minutes through number eight Tom Duncan and Jack Owlett from a line-out.
