Several new faces as Titans set sights on top-two finish

NATIONAL Two South side Taunton Titans have made a number of new signings.

They include fly-half Kieran Hill, who scored more than 400 points for Clevedon last season. Still only 20, he is already a county player.

Others new to Hyde Park include Conor Baker, a loosehead-prop from Hornets, Rob Allen, a centre from Bridgwater and Albion, and ex-Navy No 8 winger Tom Stevens who has played for Cinderford and Clevedon.

Another former Navy player, prop Aaron Wilman, has joined Titans having played a lot of League rugby, while two former Exmouth players, tighthead-prop Isaac Dalton and winger Ollie Rice, have signed for the Somerset club.

Titans are looking for a top-two finish this campaign, having finished fourth last winter.

And with four of their first six matches at Hyde Park, the fixtures have dealt them a tidy hand, although they need to improve on their home performances compared to last season.

Not long ago, Titans were virtually invincible at Hyde Park but that changed last season when they lost four times and were also held to three draws.

But there is no reason why they cannot be more dominant at home this season. There are more local lads in the squad and this will lead to increased competition for first team places.

Loan signings have not worked out for Titans in the past and they are steering away from that policy in order to field a settled side – surely the key to any side performing well.

Titans will also want a good start to the season, as they did last winter when picking up maximum points from their opening five games to top the table.
